Grandma's

Grandmothers in Africa. Because of AIDS mothers lose their children. When they have children, grandma's in Uganda become responsible for their grandchildren.

What would we do without grandma’s in our community? Because of the AIDS epidemic a lot of people have died. Many of the grandmothers, and even the grandfathers for that matter, have lost their children to AIDS. That is why a lot of the HIV+ children have become an orphan. The grandma’s should actually be enjoying their retirement, but are now caring for their grandchildren.

We are supporting those brave grandma’s. Every year we give them seeds, beans, cassava and other crops. So they are able to feed their families.

When there is extra money we can give them something more than usual. Like a goat, or in a good year a cow. One year there was enough for a bull, a plow, and some orange trees to put next to their huts.

We thank God for the grandma’s
